The latest e-bike took two years to create and can reach a speed of 155kph.

In a progressive move towards sustainability and innovation, Sharjah Police is set to expand its traffic fleet by incorporating a sustainable smart electric bike. This groundbreaking addition is set to revolutionize law enforcement efforts in the emirate.

A UAE-Built Marvel: Sulmi’s Smart E-Bike

The smart electric bike is the brainchild of Rashid Al Salmi, an Emirati entrepreneur, and founder of UAE-based company Sulmi. This cutting-edge innovation proudly bears the “Made in the UAE” label, showcasing the nation’s commitment to technological advancement.

Unveiling at the Sharjah Economic Sustainability Forum

This pioneering electric bike made its debut at the seventh Sharjah Economic Sustainability Forum, hosted at the Sharjah Police headquarters. The event served as a platform to showcase the innovative vehicle’s potential in contributing to sustainability and efficient law enforcement.

Part of a Wider Sustainability Strategy

Sharjah Police’s adoption of the smart electric bike aligns with its broader strategy to transition towards sustainable practices across various aspects of law enforcement. This strategic move highlights the emirate’s commitment to environmental responsibility and forward-thinking policing.

A Sustainable Vision Born in 2021

The smart bikes’ development began in 2021, driven by the noble goal of reducing emissions and advancing sustainability within Sharjah. Over two years of meticulous work, a prototype was unveiled in the current year, demonstrating the dedication and expertise of the team behind this initiative.

Impressive Range and Speed

The smart electric bike boasts impressive specifications. It can cover a remarkable distance of 300 kilometers on a single 30-minute charge, and it can reach speeds of up to 155 kilometers per hour. 

This exceptional performance ensures that the bike is not only eco-friendly but also highly efficient in meeting the demands of law enforcement.

A Collaborative Team Effort

Rashid Al Salmi, the visionary behind this innovation, emphasized that the development of the smart electric bike was a collaborative effort. 

The team consists of five individuals, including four Emiratis and one Lebanese, each contributing their unique skills in mechanical engineering and design to bring this sustainable solution to life.

The introduction of Sulmi’s smart electric bike into Sharjah Police’s traffic fleet is a significant step forward in embracing sustainability and cutting-edge technology. 

This initiative exemplifies the UAE’s commitment to fostering innovation and reducing its carbon footprint while maintaining the highest standards of law enforcement.
