Dubai Announces Free Parking During Iftar Throughout Ramadan

In a move to provide relief to motorists during the holy month of Ramadan, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced free parking for two hours during iftar. The initiative aims to facilitate residents and visitors as they break their fast and observe the religious rituals during the month of fasting.

The RTA released its paid parking schedule for Ramadan, detailing the timings for parking fees and exemptions. From Monday to Saturday, parking fees will be applicable from 8 am to 6 pm and again from 8 pm until midnight. However, during iftar time, motorists will enjoy a two-hour exemption from parking fees, allowing them to park without any charges while they break their fast.

Additionally, free parking will be provided in the TECOM area parking zone F from 6 pm until 8 am the following day, offering extended relief to those in the designated zone.

While the exemption applies to on-street parking, fees for multistorey car parks will remain in effect throughout Ramadan, ensuring the smooth operation of parking facilities in the city.

The announcement comes as part of the RTA’s efforts to enhance the ease of transportation and address the needs of the community during the holy month. By providing free parking during iftar, the authority aims to ease congestion and provide convenience to motorists during peak hours of religious observance.

In addition to the parking initiatives, the RTA has also outlined details of its transport services for Ramadan. The Metro service will continue to operate as usual, with no changes to the schedule. Bus routes will follow the Metro schedule, ensuring seamless connectivity for commuters. Similarly, the tram schedule will remain unchanged to cater to the transportation needs of residents and visitors.

While the Dubai water taxi service will pause during iftar and dhuhr prayer times, it will continue to operate according to its regular schedule for the rest of the day, offering alternative transportation options for commuters.

Ramadan, which began following the sighting of the new crescent moon, is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, and reflection. During Ramadan, Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset, abstaining from food and drink as they engage in spiritual practices and charitable acts.

In alignment with the spirit of Ramadan, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has also announced reduced working hours for private-sector employees during the holy month. Federal employees will adhere to adjusted working hours, further accommodating the religious observances of the community.

Schools across the country will also adjust their schedules, with classes ending at noon on Fridays and daily hours reduced to a maximum of five, allowing students and teachers to participate in Ramadan activities and rituals.
