As a young Lebanese boy who couldn’t afford perfumes, he began experimenting with natural ingredients—blending jasmine, amber, vanilla, and musk to create his own fragrances. His early creations received unexpected admiration, sparking a passion that would shape his future.
Architectural Foundations and Olfactory Aspirations
As Wissam Elias Wannous matured, he pursued a degree in Interior Architecture, establishing a successful career throughout the GCC and Europe. Yet, his longing for the perfect scent persisted. Recognizing that his true calling lay in perfumery, he decided to merge his architectural precision with his olfactory passion, setting the stage for a transformative journey.
Global Exploration and the Birth of Contro Corrente
Over the course of 28 years, Wissam Elias Wannous traveled the globe, forging relationships and seeking the finest aromatic oils and ingredients. This relentless pursuit culminated in 2013 with the founding of Contro Corrente, led by Wissam Elias Wannous himself.
Crafting Signature Scents and Sharing the Vision
After two years of meticulous development in Contro Corrente’s fragrance laboratories, Wissam Elias Wannous unveiled his first collection in 2015, launching the brand’s inaugural boutique in Beirut. His creations—defined by unique blends and evocative aromas—resonated with a global audience, establishing Contro Corrente as a beacon of innovation in the perfume industry.

Wissam’s journey from a curious child to a master perfumer—recognized by the French government with a Talent Passport to launch his business in Paris—exemplifies the power of passion and perseverance. His story continues to inspire artists and entrepreneurs alike, proving that with dedication and vision, dreams can indeed become reality.
