UAE Embraces Comprehensive Data Protection with New Federal Law

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has taken a significant step in safeguarding personal data and privacy with the enactment of the Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 Regarding the Protection of Data Protection (DP Law). Effective from January 2, 2022, this law represents a major legal reform coinciding with the UAE’s 50th anniversary.
