Etihad Rail has operated its first rail journey connecting the cities of Abu Dhabi and Al Dhannah. This inaugural trip, which took place on Thursday, included Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Managing Director and Group CEO of ADNOC, and members of ADNOC’s Executive Leadership team.
The rail service, currently under development, will ultimately facilitate travel for ADNOC’s staff and contractors between these two destinations. Following the journey, Dr. Al Jaber toured ADNOC’s downstream and petrochemicals hub in Al Ruwais Industrial City and was briefed on strategic growth projects, including Borouge 4, Adnoc Refining, and the Ruwais LNG project.
Dr. Al Jaber emphasized the importance of this partnership with Etihad Rail, highlighting its alignment with strategic priorities to implement transport solutions that contribute to the UAE’s development and prosperity. The rail passenger service is seen as a key component of the UAE’s growing infrastructure, enhancing economic growth and infrastructure development while also driving decarbonization efforts.
The rail project is more than a mere transportation network; it is envisioned as a crucial artery for economic growth, anticipated to serve as a foundation for the UAE’s continued development and success.
