Prime Minister’s Vision:

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, unveiled a comprehensive sustainability strategy during the UAE Cabinet meeting at Expo City Dubai, coinciding with the Cop28 climate conference. This strategic plan signifies the nation’s resolute commitment to environmental initiatives.

Key Initiatives:

During the ministerial gathering, the UAE Cabinet endorsed 10 pivotal initiatives and decisions aimed at propelling the country toward new environmental milestones. Notably, one of the approved measures includes the adoption of a robust framework for the Biodiversity Strategy 2031.

Holistic Sustainability Approach:

The Biodiversity Strategy 2031 is designed to monitor and safeguard natural ecosystems, enhancing overall sustainability. 

The ambitious objectives of this scheme entail rehabilitating and restoring 80% of degraded land and marine areas, preserving a minimum of 21% of land and marine ecosystems, and elevating the status of endangered native species by 10%.

The UAE’s green-powered action plan underscores a commitment to not only conserve but actively restore and rejuvenate the nation’s natural habitats. The envisioned initiatives aim to bolster environmental resilience and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.
