In a significant development for international humanitarian efforts, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, has instituted the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council. This includes the development of a future vision for the sector, establishing general frameworks for projects, and forming necessary subcommittees to support operations.
Chaired by Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the council includes prominent figures such as Reem Ibrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Maryam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Al Mheiri, Minister of Climate Change and Environment; and Shamma bint Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Community Development, among others.
The council integrates several key committees, including the Joint Strategic Committee for African Cooperation, the UAE Humanitarian Committee, the Higher Committee for Foreign Aid, and the International Health Advisory Committee. This integration signifies a consolidated approach to addressing global humanitarian needs, ensuring a more coordinated and effective response to international crises.
