Private sector employees in the UAE received a welcomed extension for the UAE National Day celebrations, resulting in a three-day weekend.
Initially set for December 2 and 3, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced an update, granting December 4 as an additional day off for workers.
Matching Breaks for Government Workers:
The holiday extension aligns both private and public sector holiday schedules. Government employees will also enjoy a break from December 2 to 4, working remotely on December 1, which precedes the holiday.
Typically, Fridays constitute a half-day for most government workers, contributing to a 4.5-day work week.
Return to Work on December 5:
Following the extended holiday, all employees, both in the public and private sectors, are scheduled to resume work on Tuesday, December 5.
The unified holiday policy implemented in the UAE ensures parity between public and private sector workers, providing an equal number of breaks throughout the year for all employees.
Celebrating UAE National Day:
The UAE National Day, also known as UAE Union Day, commemorates the unification of the Emirates in 1971. This year, celebrated annually on December 2, marks the country’s 52nd year since unification.
