UAE braces for chilly weather as temperatures drop
Morning temperatures fell below 7°C at the weekend, with a wet climate on the way.
Cold Snap Triggers Cooler Climes
Residents across the UAE are preparing for sweater weather following a weekend cold snap that led to a substantial drop in morning temperatures.
At Jebel Jais mountain in Ras Al Khaimah, the mercury plummeted to as low as 6.6°C at 6:30 am on Saturday, slightly rising to 7.9°C the subsequent day, signifying a widespread decrease in temperatures across the region.
Chill Extends Across Emirates
The nip in the air isn’t limited to the UAE’s highest peak, as cooler weather has made its presence felt across lower ground areas throughout the Emirates.
Forecasts indicate a continuation of declining temperatures in the upcoming week, particularly during evenings and early mornings, as the UAE approaches the coldest phase of the year.
Winter Apparel Sales Surge Expected
With the onset of cooler temperatures, retailers are anticipating a surge in sales of winter clothing. Items such as hoodies, boots, beanie hats, and coats usually witness increased demand during December, extending into the following months of January and February.
This seasonal shift prompts residents to stock up on warm attire to combat the colder weather.
