Ajman’s stunning beaches are once again shining clean, thanks to a large number of volunteers who came out to support recent cleanup drives. The events, organized across different parts of the emirate, attracted hundreds of residents, school students, families, and environmental activists – all driven by a shared love for nature.
From early morning hours, volunteers armed with gloves, garbage bags, and reusable containers could be seen gathering waste washed ashore or left behind by visitors. In just a few hours, they managed to collect large piles of plastic bottles, food wrappers, cigarette butts, and even fishing nets.
Community Spirit and Environmental Awareness Take Center Stage
The beach cleanups were more than just an effort to remove trash. They became a symbol of growing environmental awareness in Ajman. Many of the participants, especially the youth, spoke about how pollution harms marine life and why it’s important to keep public spaces clean.

One student volunteer shared, “It’s our responsibility to take care of our planet. If we don’t act now, future generations will suffer.”
Many local schools participated by encouraging students to take part. Parents joined with their children, making it a family event. Teachers also saw this as an opportunity to extend classroom lessons about environmental responsibility into real-life action.
Backed by Authorities and Local Organizations

These cleanup drives were supported by Ajman Municipality and several local organizations, including environmental NGOs, youth groups, and community centers. The municipality provided necessary equipment and arranged for proper disposal of collected waste.
Officials from the municipality praised the volunteers for their dedication. “We are proud of our community. This is a step forward in building a cleaner and more sustainable Ajman,” said one municipal officer at the scene.
Organizers mentioned that the drive is part of a broader plan to promote eco-friendly behavior among residents. The city aims to reduce littering, promote recycling, and encourage the use of reusable items.
Marine Life Gets a Break From Pollution
Volunteers shared their concern for sea creatures affected by pollution. Plastic waste is one of the biggest threats to marine animals, which often mistake it for food or get tangled in it.
During the cleanup, several people found plastic waste stuck in rocks or buried in sand. “It’s not just about how the beach looks; it’s about protecting the animals that live near or in the sea,” said one volunteer.
Children were seen excitedly spotting small crabs and seashells, realizing how their actions could help protect these creatures.
A Social and Educational Event
Besides cleaning, the beach drives included short workshops, fun games, and educational talks. These sessions taught children and adults how long different types of waste take to break down, and why reducing single-use plastic is so important.
One mother said, “My kids learned more in this one morning than from any textbook. They’re already telling me we should stop using plastic straws at home.”
People took photos, shared their experiences on social media, and encouraged others to join in future events. Many participants wore t-shirts with slogans like “Keep Ajman Clean” and “Every Small Action Counts.”
Plans for More Cleanups and Eco Projects

Due to the success of these cleanups, organizers say they plan to hold similar events more often. Some even suggested adopting certain beaches for monthly care by different community groups.
Ajman Municipality is also considering setting up more waste sorting bins near public beaches, as well as placing educational signboards that remind visitors to clean up after themselves.
Local cafes and restaurants near the beach have expressed interest in supporting future efforts by offering discounts to customers who bring reusable containers or cups.
A Message That Goes Beyond the Shore
The cleanup drives have created waves of change far beyond the beach. Residents are now talking about taking better care of parks, streets, and other public spaces.
Some groups are planning follow-up events in desert areas and near mangroves. Environmental educators believe these drives are a great way to start deeper conversations about sustainability.
For many, the beach cleanup was not just about picking up litter – it was about building a culture of care and responsibility.
A Brighter Future for Ajman’s Coastline
The success of Ajman’s beach cleanups sends a powerful message: when a community comes together, even small actions can make a big difference. The beaches look cleaner, the sea creatures are safer, and the people feel more connected to nature.
More importantly, this growing spirit of volunteerism shows how everyday citizens can lead change, protect the environment, and inspire others to do the same.
