"Third 'Dubai Iftar' Unites Diverse Faiths in Celebration of Ramadan at Expo City Dubai"

The Community Development Authority (CDA) in Dubai, in partnership with Dubai’s Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department, recently hosted the third edition of the ‘Dubai Iftar’ event at Expo City Dubai. The interfaith iftar gathering brought together individuals from various religious backgrounds, emphasizing the values of unity, compassion, and social cohesion.

The event, organized as part of the #RamadanInDubai campaign under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, witnessed the participation of religious leaders, UAE officials, representatives from various organizations, as well as members of consular and diplomatic bodies in the country.

Reflecting on the significance of the ‘Dubai Iftar,’ Her Excellency Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Director General of the Community Development Authority in Dubai, highlighted its role in promoting tolerance and compassion, hallmarks of the Holy Month of Ramadan. She emphasized the UAE’s commitment to religious freedom and cultural diversity, underpinned by mutual respect and integration of all community members, regardless of their backgrounds.

H.E. Buhumaid further emphasized the collective responsibility of society in advancing social progress, emphasizing the importance of active participation from all members in initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life and strengthening community bonds.

Echoing similar sentiments, His Excellency Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, Director General of Dubai’s Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department, underscored the UAE’s unique social fabric, characterized by coexistence and diversity. He lauded the ‘Dubai Iftar’ event for embodying the country’s values and contributing to regional recognition for promoting love, tolerance, and peace.

The event, held at the iconic Al Wasl Plaza in Expo City Dubai, was strategically chosen for its symbolic significance as a hub for connecting cultures and civilizations. Ahmed Khalfan Al Mansouri, Cultural Communication Advisor and General Coordinator of Ramadan Activities in Dubai, emphasized the venue’s role in fostering inclusivity and bringing together representatives from diverse backgrounds.

The ‘Dubai Iftar’ event, a key initiative of the #RamadanInDubai campaign, aims to create a unique ambiance across the city, capturing the true essence of Ramadan and reflecting authentic Emirati customs and traditions. Launched by the Dubai Media Council, the campaign is facilitated by Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO), with a focus on sharing the rich cultural heritage and fostering a sense of community during the Holy Month.
