Early Life and Passion for Design
Born in 1995, Nada ElKharashi’s journey into the world of design began in her formative years. Growing up in Egypt, she was deeply influenced by the rich cultural heritage surrounding her. Here, she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design with honors, supported by a full scholarship from Hamad Bin Khalifa for her academic merit and excellence. Her thirst for knowledge didn’t stop there; she furthered her studies with a Master of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Design Studies. During this period, she was awarded a graduate fellowship from the Dean of the Graduate School, recognizing her outstanding academic achievements.
Throughout her academic journey, ElKharashi immersed herself in various disciplines, exploring the intersections of design, culture, and technology. This interdisciplinary approach allowed her to develop a unique perspective, enabling her to create designs that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also culturally resonant and functionally innovative.
Pioneering Sustainable Energy with Electric Skin
In 2021, ElKharashi co-founded Electric Skin, a groundbreaking project aimed at revolutionizing sustainable energy solutions. The initiative focuses on generating electricity from ambient air using innovative biomaterials. The flagship product, BioVolt, is a self-powering bio sticker that functions as a body temperature sensor, alerting users when their temperature exceeds 38 degrees Celsius. This innovation is particularly significant in medical settings, offering a sustainable and efficient alternative to traditional sensors.
Electric Skin has also developed a flexible, self-powering battery that recharges in the presence of air, eliminating the need for external power sources. This technology holds immense potential, especially in regions with unstable electricity supplies.
