Dubai’s bustling Sheikh Zayed Road, specifically the Abu Dhabi-bound traffic from the Trade Centre Roundabout to the Expo Intersection, will face temporary closures during December 1-3 mornings, from 7 am to 11 am.
Reasons for Closure:
The closure aligns with hosting the UN Climate Change Conference COP28 at Expo City and celebrating the UAE’s 52nd Union Day, both significant events that will draw crowds and leaders from across the globe.
Alternative Routes and Options:
Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes during the specified closure hours. Options include using Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Emirates, Al Khail, Jumeirah, Al Wasl, and Al Khail roads.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) also suggests considering public transportation to ease congestion.
COP28 and UAE Union Day Significance:
COP28 is a critical international event with over 70,000 attendees from 198 countries focusing on climate change discussions.
Simultaneously, UAE Union Day on December 2 marks the nation’s unification in 1971, prompting private and public sector employees to enjoy a three-day break from December 2 to 4.
