According to authorities, at approximately 2:15 pm local time (0515 GMT), an individual entered a post office in the Chuo 5-chome area of Warabi city, taking hostages while possessing what appears to be a firearm. The city’s authorities have provided updates on their website.

The situation comes as law enforcement investigates an earlier shooting incident in the same area that occurred earlier in the day.
In that incident, two individuals sustained slight injuries, although the circumstances surrounding their injuries remain unclear.
