Born and raised in Egypt, Habiba Sameh Mahmoud discovered her passion for speedball at a young age. Growing up in a country where speedball originated, she was naturally drawn to the sport. With the support of her family and coaches, Habiba dedicated herself to mastering the game, showcasing exceptional talent and determination.
Breaking Barriers and Setting Records

Habiba’s commitment to speedball culminated in a historic achievement on March 28, 2022. During the 14th Speedball Championship for Arab Universities in Hurghada, she shattered the world record by delivering 562 hits in one minute, surpassing the previous record held by Asmaa Abdelaal. This remarkable feat not only earned her first place in the championship but also solidified her status as a trailblazer in the sport.
Overcoming Challenges
Despite her success, Habiba’s journey was not without obstacles. Balancing rigorous training schedules with academic responsibilities required immense discipline and time management. Additionally, as a female athlete in a male-dominated sport, she faced societal pressures and skepticism. However, her unwavering determination and passion for speedball enabled her to overcome these challenges and inspire others.
Current Endeavors and Future Aspirations
As of February 2025, Habiba continues to train intensively, aiming to break her own records and promote speedball on a global scale. She actively participates in workshops and seminars, encouraging young athletes, especially women, to pursue their passions regardless of societal norms. Habiba’s vision includes establishing training academies to nurture future talents and elevate the sport’s prominence worldwide.
