Some major upgrades on AlHosn announced by UAE

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) health authorities have taken a significant step in bolstering their healthcare infrastructure by introducing an updated version of the AlHosn app. 

Initially designed for COVID-19 contact tracing and health testing, this upgraded application has now transformed into the country’s primary digital healthcare platform for managing children’s vaccination records. 

This move is poised to play a pivotal role in increasing child vaccination coverage nationwide.

The Evolution of AlHosn App:

Originally conceived as the official UAE app for tracking COVID-19 cases and contact tracing, the AlHosn app has evolved remarkably. 

It has transitioned into a comprehensive digital healthcare tool specifically tailored to managing vaccination records for children from the moment of birth until they reach the age of 18. 

This transformation marks a strategic shift in the app’s purpose, with the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) recognizing the need for a unified platform to oversee the vaccination process for children.

A Comprehensive Solution:

MoHAP’s latest update to the AlHosn app brings many digital solutions to empower families to monitor and manage their children’s vaccination status. 

This update ensures access to comprehensive and reliable information and strengthens collaboration between MoHAP and local health authorities.

Dr. Hussain Al Rand’s Perspective:

Dr. Hussain Al Rand, the assistant undersecretary for Public Health at MoHAP, underscores the significance of this update in the context of the UAE’s ongoing healthcare transformation. 

He emphasizes that this enhancement will streamline access to children’s vaccination records in alignment with the National Immunization Programme.

Mandatory Vaccinations:

The UAE government has made it mandatory for children to receive vaccinations from birth until they reach Grade 11. These vaccinations cover a spectrum of diseases, including tuberculosis, hepatitis B, polio, tetanus, and more. 

Recognizing the critical role vaccinations play in preventing infectious diseases, the UAE government remains committed to leveraging smart technologies and applications. 

This commitment aims to foster robust communication channels with the community to ensure comprehensive health coverage and sustain high vaccination rates.
