In a significant humanitarian initiative, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, has announced the launch of a Dh1 billion education fund to support disadvantaged families globally just before the onset of Ramadan.
The initiative, named the Mothers’ Endowment campaign, is facilitated by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), aiming to address the educational needs of millions of underprivileged individuals worldwide.
According to reports from the state news agency Wam, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the transformative power of education, stating, “Knowledge is hope. It is the gate to a better life as it builds up capable humans and advances countries.”
The campaign underscores the UAE’s commitment to promoting education, hope, and life for people worldwide. Sheikh Mohammed expressed the nation’s role in contributing to a brighter future on a global scale.
The Mothers’ Endowment campaign holds a special significance as it recognizes the pivotal role of mothers in society. Through the campaign, individuals in the UAE are encouraged to make donations in honor of their mothers during the holy month of Ramadan.
Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the significance of mothers, stating, “A mother is a synonym of heaven, her satisfaction is the path to heaven.” He urged people of all ages and genders to participate in the endowment, emphasizing the importance of making mothers happy, pleasing the Creator, and observing Ramadan with blessings, love, and kindness.
The campaign reflects the Emirati community’s values of solidarity and giving, embodying the UAE’s culture of generosity. With Ramadan expected to begin on March 10 or 11 this year, the initiative aims to channel support towards underprivileged communities globally.
Mohammad Al Gergawi, Secretary-General of MBRGI, reiterated the campaign’s objective of supporting education and vocational training for disadvantaged individuals. He emphasized that the funds raised will be allocated in collaboration with humanitarian organizations to promote stability and welfare in underserved communities.
The Mothers’ Endowment campaign follows the success of previous Ramadan initiatives, such as the One Million Meals in 2020 and 2021, and the One Billion Meals in 2022 and 2023. Last year’s campaign raised Dh750 million in just 20 days, thanks to the generous contributions of individuals, institutions, and businesses.
As Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid spearheads the Dh1 billion education fund, the UAE reaffirms its commitment to humanitarian causes and global solidarity. The initiative not only aims to provide educational opportunities but also seeks to uplift communities and foster a brighter future for generations to come.
