Sharjah Police has reported fining 146,201 drivers in 2023 for failing to comply with seatbelt regulations, according to Colonel Mohammad Alay Al Naqbi, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department. Emphasizing the critical role of seatbelts in reducing injuries during accidents, he stressed the importance of immediate compliance with safety measures upon boarding a vehicle. Violators face a Dh400 fine and four black points under Federal Traffic Law No. 178, Article 51. Sharjah Police has intensified awareness campaigns to educate the public on seatbelt usage, utilizing speed radars and cameras to enforce compliance. Drivers are urged to prioritize safety by ensuring all passengers, especially children, are securely seated and belted up.
