Sharjah Announces New Year Holiday for Government Sector

Sharjah's Department of Human Resources has confirmed that the official New Year's holiday will be January 1, 2024.

Sharjah’s Department of Human Resources has confirmed that January 1, 2024, will mark the official New Year’s holiday for all government departments, bodies, and institutions in the emirate. 

This announcement translates into an extended four-day weekend for government employees.

Resumption of Official Working Hours:

Following the New Year holiday, official working hours for Sharjah government employees are scheduled to resume on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. 

This ensures a smooth transition back to regular business activities after the festive break.

Nationwide Impact on Public and Private Sectors:

Aligning with federal directives, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation had previously declared January 1 a public holiday for public and private sector employees across the country. 

Consequently, a three-day weekend is anticipated for the majority of the workforce.

Dubai Joins In with Paid Holiday:

In tandem with the national directive, Dubai’s government sector will observe a paid holiday on January 1, 2024. 

This aligns with the commitment to giving government employees a well-deserved break at the beginning of the new year.
