Sarit Shefer, the founder of “Styled by Sarit,” has dedicated her career to helping women rediscover their confidence and embrace their unique beauty through personalized fashion guidance.
From Retail Roots to Personal Styling
Sarit’s journey into the world of fashion began in 2000 at Zara, where she started as a sales assistant and quickly ascended to assistant manager for womenswear. Her innate ability to curate outfits that resonated with women of all ages ignited a passion for styling. “I loved putting together outfits for women and seeing their eyes light up when they emerged from the changing room wearing something that made them feel incredible,” Sarit recalls.
Marriage led Sarit to London, where she continued her fashion career at Jigsaw on Bond Street. However, the practicalities of life soon steered her towards an office job that offered better pay and hours, a decision made to support her young family. This hiatus from fashion extended over two decades, during which Sarit focused on raising her three children and supporting her husband’s burgeoning corporate career.
A New Chapter in Dubai
Three years ago, Sarit’s family relocated to Dubai, a move that reignited her desire to return to her true passion. With her children settled and thriving, Sarit seized the opportunity to re-enter the fashion world, leading to the birth of “Styled by Sarit” 18 months ago. Her mission: to assist women from all walks of life in rediscovering the joy of dressing well and feeling confident in their skin.
Specializing in Transformative Styling
Sarit specializes in working with women who find themselves at a crossroads with their bodies, particularly after significant life changes such as childbirth or menopause. Drawing from her own experiences as a mother of three and navigating peri-menopause, she offers empathetic and practical styling solutions. “I want to help every client regain her confidence and rediscover the joy of dressing well,” Sarit emphasizes.
Building a Thriving Business
In just 18 months, Sarit has transformed “Styled by Sarit” into a flourishing enterprise, earning the trust of numerous women seeking wardrobe edits and styling sessions. These sessions often evolve into emotional journeys, as clients bid farewell to past versions of themselves and embrace new identities. Sarit recounts a poignant moment with a client during a wardrobe edit: “She said, ‘I know I will never be that size again. I was exercising obsessively, I was barely eating, and I wasn’t that happy.’ Yet, it was still hard for her to let go of the clothes that defined that chapter in her life.”
Embracing Public Speaking
Beyond one-on-one sessions, Sarit has ventured into public speaking, delivering styling talks to groups exceeding 60 women. Initially daunted by the prospect, she now finds joy in connecting with audiences and witnessing their engagement. “The connection that happens with the audience, the look on women’s faces as they understand exactly what I am saying… It is MAGIC!” Sarit shares enthusiastically.
Championing Inclusivity in Fashion
As a UK size 16, Sarit is acutely aware of the fashion industry’s often narrow focus on smaller sizes. She strives to represent and reach out to women who don’t fit the traditional mold, addressing concerns like the persistent “c-section shelf” or the bodily changes brought on by menopause. “I wanted to represent and reach out to women who aren’t necessarily the standard size,” Sarit asserts.
Future Endeavors and Collaborations
Looking ahead, Sarit is developing styling workshops in collaboration with female entrepreneurs in the beauty and wellness industries. She also aims to extend her styling talks into the corporate realm as part of employee wellness programs. “Networking is key, particularly in Dubai,” Sarit notes, emphasizing the importance of building connections and offering support to others.
