RTA Delegation Visits Emirati Couple Injured in Prague Shooting

A RTA delegation from Dubai paid a visit to an Emirati couple injured in the recent Prague mass shooting.

A delegation from Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) visited the Emirati couple injured in the recent Prague mass shooting. 

Ahmed Ebrahim Obaid Ali Al Ali, Director-General of Umm Al Quwain Municipality, and his wife, Rowdah Al Mehrizi, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication at RTA, were checked on by the delegation. 

The RTA officials expressed their wishes for a swift recovery and conveyed messages of support from RTA leadership.

Government Officials’ Injuries:

The Emirati couple, both holding government positions in the UAE, sustained injuries in the Prague shooting. 

Ahmed Al Ali and Rowdah Al Mehrizi are treated in a Czech hospital. During the visit, the RTA delegation ensured the well-being of their two daughters, Maryam and Latifa.

Condolences and Global Sympathy:

The shooting, which occurred at Prague’s Faculty of Arts, claimed 14 lives, making it the deadliest incident in the Czech Republic since its independence in 1993. 

Leaders and figures worldwide, including Pope Francis, US President Joe Biden, and King Charles of Britain, expressed condolences. 

The UAE strongly condemned the incident, and support continues to pour in for the affected Emirati couple.

Rare Incident in Safe Nation:

The Czech Republic is ranked the 12th safest country globally, per the 2023 Global Peace Index. 

Mass gun violence is rare in the country, making the Prague shooting an unprecedented and tragic event. 

The UAE, along with the international community, stands in solidarity with the victims and their families.
