Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has orchestrated an extensive transport plan ahead of COP28, focused on enhancing accessibility, speed, and cost efficiency for residents during the global event scheduled from November 30 to December 12 at Expo City Dubai.
Dedicated Zones and Eco-Friendly Transit:
RTA’s plan encompasses differentiated zones – a Blue Zone for official delegations, a Green Zone for business and public representatives, and transit for COY18 participants.
Eco-friendly transportation options will be integrated within the venue, ensuring sustainable mobility.
Leveraging Dubai Metro, Dubai Bus, and taxis, RTA aims for efficient traffic management and ease of movement within the event site.
Special edition Nol cards granting free public transportation during COP28 have been introduced for delegates, promoting hassle-free travel nationwide.
Enhanced Metro Services:
Expo 2020 Metro Station serves as the primary access point during the conference. RTA extends Metro operating hours from 5 am to 1 am the next day.
Free multi-level parking at Centrepoint, Etisalat by e&, and Jebel Ali Station supplement the Metro service.
A fleet of 67 biofuel-powered buses and ten electric buses caters to visitors at Expo City Dubai’s four stops.
RTA introduces new bus routes connecting delegates and organizers to key city areas like JBR, Mall of the Emirates, and Ibn Battuta, ensuring comprehensive connectivity.
Clear Guidance and Sustainable Taxis:
Over 100 directional road signs guide motorists to the conference site, preventing confusion.
RTA provides over 10,000 hybrid taxis and 1,000 electric luxury vehicles, and designated stops within Expo City, streamlines access for taxi users at Opportunity Gate, Mobility Gate, Sustainability Gate, and the Metro Gate.
