Ras Al Khaimah Tightens Traffic Laws, Introduces Stricter Penalties from March 1

Ras Al Khaimah is set to impose heavier fines and longer impoundment periods for traffic violations starting March 1. Aimed at curbing dangerous driving, the new rules include fines up to Dh20,000 for releasing impounded vehicles.

According to Ras Al Khaimah Police, drivers engaging in road races without proper number plates or permission face impoundment for 120 days and a fine of Dh20,000. Those participating in unauthorized parades could have their vehicles impounded for 15 to 120 days and be fined Dh10,000.

Additionally, motorists caught endangering lives by performing stunts may face impoundment for 120 days and a fine of Dh10,000. Modifications to vehicles aimed at increasing speed and noise levels could lead to impoundment for 60 days with a Dh5,000 fine.

Driving recreational motorbikes or quad bikes on paved roads may result in a 90-day impoundment and a Dh3,000 fine. Similarly, vehicles causing high pollution levels could be impounded for 30 days with a Dh3,000 fine.

Repeat offenders within one year will face doubled impoundment periods and release fees.

These measures are part of efforts to enhance road safety and deter reckless driving in the emirate, with authorities emphasizing the importance of compliance with traffic regulations for safer roads.
