Col Dr Muhammad Al Bahar, Director of Traffic and Patrols, highlights the alarming increase in violations, particularly concerning vehicles driving at unsafe speeds.
Speeding: A Serious Threat:
Col Al Bahar underscores the gravity of speeding violations, labeling them as potential threats not only to the offending drivers but also to others on the road. He urges all drivers to exercise caution, emphasizing stringent monitoring of traffic offenses across external and internal roads in the emirate.
The ongoing road safety campaign aims to curtail fatal accidents attributed to reckless driving and high-speed violations, aligning with the Ras Al Khaimah Police’s commitment to enhancing road safety.
Penalties for Speeding Offenses:
Col Al Bahar outlines the hefty fines and penalties according to Ministerial Resolution No. 178, emphasizing strict consequences for exceeding speed limits:
- Exceeding the speed limit by over 80kmph incurs a Dh3,000 fine, 23 black points, and 60-day vehicle impoundment.
- Going beyond the limit by 60kmph results in a Dh2,000 fine, 12 black points, and a 30-day vehicle impoundment.
- Penalties are also applicable for those exceeding the speed limit by 20kmph.
