Railway Service Between Abu Dhabi City and Al Dhannah Announced

Sharjah to Build New Passenger Train Station Linked to Etihad Rail Network

In a significant development, Etihad Rail, the creator and operator of the UAE National Rail Network, has signed a deal with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) to establish railway services connecting Abu Dhabi City to Al Dhannah in Al Dhafra.

Strategic Partnership Details:

The partnership aims to enhance transportation accessibility between Abu Dhabi city and Al Dhannah, a town located approximately 250km west of the capital, with a population of 29,000 residents. 

Adnoc employees are expected to benefit from the railway services, fostering ease of travel between these key locations.

Visionary Leadership and Commitment to Excellence:

Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Office of Development and Martyrs Families Affairs at the Presidential Court, highlighted the visionary approach of Etihad Rail in providing world-class passenger experiences through strategic collaborations.

Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Managing Director and Group CEO of Adnoc emphasized Adnoc’s commitment to sustainable transportation solutions and infrastructure development in the UAE. 

The partnership aligns with Adnoc’s broader goal of exploring opportunities to strengthen partnerships and implement solutions that contribute to emission reduction targets.

Showcasing Potential for Similar Collaborations:

The project serves as a model for other companies, showcasing the potential for similar partnerships in advancing transportation infrastructure and connectivity within the UAE.

Etihad Rail has been actively progressing the development of its passenger services, with plans to connect 11 cities. 

The railway network, with a top speed of 200kmph, is set to significantly reduce travel times between key destinations, catering to 36.5 million passengers annually by 2030.
