Delegates at COP28 have received encouraging economic predictions for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, should it adopt ambitious climate action targets.

Job Creation and GDP Growth Estimates

Peter Rademaker, Deputy Regional Director for the Arab States at the International Labour Organisation (ILO), disclosed that stringent climate action in the MENA region could result in the creation of 10 million new jobs. 

Furthermore, this proactive approach to climate action might accelerate the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth to a significant 7.2 percent by the year 2050.
