Pope Francis is set to land in Dubai on December 1 aboard an environmentally conscious ITA Airways plane to participate in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28). 

His arrival underscores a commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Three-Day Engagement for Climate Talks:

During his visit, the Pope intends to spend three days in Dubai, actively engaging in the COP28 climate conference. 

His itinerary includes a substantial period for bilateral meetings with global leaders attending the event, fostering discussions on climate issues and sustainable solutions.

ITA Airways’ Carbon-Neutral Initiative:

The Italian flag carrier ITA Airways has orchestrated the papal flight, featuring an Airbus A330neo known for significantly reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions per passenger.

Additionally, the airline has devised a comprehensive plan focusing on Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) usage and CO2 offsetting through certified projects.

Careful Preparations for Papal Journey:

A dedicated team of 14 crew members, including pilots, flight attendants, and specialized personnel, will oversee the comfort and safety of the Pope and his accompanying delegation. 

Commander Corrado Di Maria, with extensive flight experience, will supervise onboard activities.
