US actor Piper Laurie – well known for her roles in The Hustler and Carrie movies – has passed away aged 91, her manager has revealed.

Marion Rosenberg, speaking to the Associated Press, announced the passing of Piper Laurie, a three-time Oscar nominee, in her Los Angeles home. 

Laurie’s legacy extended far beyond her impressive acting career, as she was also a passionate advocate for civil rights.
