Dubai’s parking landscape is evolving rapidly, and drivers are now seeing changes in some of the city’s most popular neighbourhoods. Paid parking in Dubai has officially expanded to Palm Jumeirah Crescent, introducing a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week ticketless system at one of the emirate’s most iconic waterfront destinations.
If Palm Jumeirah Crescent is part of your regular routine — whether for sunrise beach walks, sunset drives, or dinner reservations overlooking the sea — this update is one you’ll want to factor into your plans.
A New 24/7 Paid Parking System at Palm Jumeirah Crescent
Following the rollout of paid on-street parking in Discovery Gardens, Parkonic has now introduced its system at Palm Jumeirah Crescent. The new paid parking setup came into effect on February 1 and applies around the clock.
Unlike many other zones across Dubai, there are no free parking windows at Palm Jumeirah Crescent. The area is chargeable 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including weekends and public holidays. That means whether you’re stopping by early in the morning or heading there late at night, parking fees will apply.
This move reflects Dubai’s broader efforts to regulate high-demand parking zones and streamline traffic flow in premium lifestyle districts.
What It Costs to Park
Parking at Palm Jumeirah Crescent is charged at Dhs10 per hour, or part thereof. The hourly rate applies to all vehicles without exception.
Importantly, the rate also applies to vehicles registered under People of Determination. Clear signage has been installed throughout the area to outline the charges and terms, ensuring drivers are aware of the costs before leaving their vehicles.
For frequent visitors to the Crescent — residents, beachgoers, and diners alike — the flat hourly rate provides transparency and consistency. However, because there are no complimentary hours, planning ahead is key, especially for longer stays.
No Tickets, No Machines, No Barriers
One of the biggest changes is the complete removal of traditional parking infrastructure. There are no physical tickets, no parking metres, and no entry or exit barriers.
Instead, the system operates entirely through automatic number plate recognition. Your vehicle’s licence plate becomes your parking record from the moment you enter the zone.
This ticketless approach is designed to reduce congestion and eliminate the need for drivers to queue at machines or keep paper tickets. In a high-traffic waterfront area like Palm Jumeirah Crescent, where movement and aesthetics matter, the streamlined system supports smoother traffic flow and a cleaner streetscape.
For many, it represents a step forward in Dubai’s growing shift toward smart city solutions.
How to Pay for Parking
Drivers have two main payment options under the new system.
The first is SMS payment. Instructions displayed on signage across the Crescent guide motorists on how to initiate a parking session via text message. Once activated, the session covers the selected duration.
If SMS payment is not successfully completed, the parking fee will automatically be deducted from the driver’s Salik account after exiting the zone, in line with Salik’s terms and conditions. Salik effectively acts as the default payment method unless an SMS session is activated.
There is no option to pay with cash. Parking machines and QR code payments are not available in this area. The entire process is digital and automated.
Important Things Drivers Should Know
Because Salik serves as the default payment channel, drivers must ensure their Salik account is active and has sufficient balance. Vehicles without a Salik account, or those with low balance, are required to use SMS payment instead. Telecom charges may apply when using SMS.
Failure to pay the parking fee could result in fines or further action, so it’s essential to confirm that your session has been successfully activated or that your Salik account is properly funded before leaving the area.
For visitors from outside Dubai or those using rental vehicles, it’s especially important to check how the vehicle is registered and how parking fees will be processed.
Why Paid Parking Is Expanding in Dubai
The expansion of paid parking in Dubai is part of a wider strategy to manage urban growth, improve traffic circulation, and optimise high-demand public spaces.
Areas like Palm Jumeirah Crescent attract large numbers of visitors daily, from tourists and hotel guests to residents and fitness enthusiasts. Introducing a structured, always-on paid parking system helps regulate space usage, discourage long-term parking in prime locations, and create turnover so more people can access the area.
It also aligns with Dubai’s push toward digitisation and smart mobility solutions. Automated number plate recognition and seamless digital payments reduce reliance on physical infrastructure while improving operational efficiency.
As more neighbourhoods transition to similar systems, drivers can expect a more consistent and technology-driven parking experience across the city.

What This Means for Residents and Visitors
For residents living on or near Palm Jumeirah Crescent, the new system may change daily routines. Planning errands, hosting guests, or arranging deliveries now requires consideration of 24-hour paid parking rules.
For visitors, especially those heading to the beach or dining venues, the change means factoring parking fees into the overall outing budget. At Dhs10 per hour, a three-hour stay adds up, particularly for families spending extended time outdoors.
On the positive side, the regulated system may make it easier to find available spaces during peak hours, as vehicles are less likely to remain parked for long stretches without cost.
A Growing Trend Across Dubai
Palm Jumeirah Crescent is not an isolated case. With Discovery Gardens already onboarded and more areas expected to follow, paid parking in Dubai is steadily expanding into additional residential and lifestyle districts.
As the city continues to grow and attract new residents and tourists, parking management will remain a key focus. Smart, ticketless systems like this one are likely to become the norm rather than the exception.
For now, the message is simple: if Palm Jumeirah Crescent is on your regular rotation, be prepared for round-the-clock paid parking. Check the signage, ensure your payment method is active, and plan your stay accordingly.
Dubai’s parking experience is becoming more digital, more streamlined, and more structured — and this latest rollout marks another step in that direction.
