Overcast Skies and Rainfall: UAE Experiences Unusual Weather Patterns

On a Saturday, residents in various regions of the UAE witnessed gloomy skies and rain, with some locations even seeing hailstorms.

Residents in many parts of the UAE experienced overcast skies and rainfall on a Saturday, with some areas even seeing hailstorms, creating unusual weather patterns.

National Centre of Meteorology’s Predictions:

The UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) had forecasted a rainy weekend for certain regions, expecting showers until Tuesday.

Due to the adverse weather conditions, the Met Department issued red, orange, and yellow alerts for specific areas on Saturday afternoon, primarily in Fujairah, Al Ain, and Ras Al Khaimah.

A part of Khor Fakkan was under a red alert, indicating the need for residents to be “extremely vigilant” outdoors.

Hailstorm in Fujairah:

Around 3:30 pm, hail accompanied by moderate to heavy rain hit Wadi Maydad / Murbad in Fujairah, creating an unusual spectacle for residents in the region.

Hailstones were also reported in Masafi, a town situated on the border of Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah.

Tropical Storm in the Arabian Sea:

Aside from the rain, the NCM is closely monitoring a tropical storm in the Arabian Sea, with the potential to develop into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours.

Although it’s not expected to directly impact the UAE, the moisture from the sea could lead to the formation of cumulus clouds, potentially bringing more rain to the eastern and southern regions.

These weather developments demonstrate the unpredictability of nature and the importance of preparedness and vigilance during unusual weather events in the region.
