New Consul General of India Assumes Office in Dubai

Satish Kumar Sivan, the new Consul General of India in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, took office on Tuesday.

The new Consul General of India in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Satish Kumar Sivan, officially assumed charge on Tuesday.

The Consulate General of India (CGI) in Dubai shared images of the diplomat’s joining ceremony on social media. 

During the ceremony, the new consul general paid his respects by offering a floral tribute to the bust of Mahatma Gandhi located at the consulate.

Diplomatic Background:

Satish Kumar Sivan is a graduate of the 2005 batch of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and has a distinguished career in the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spanning over three years. 

His most recent posting was as the Joint Secretary at the MEA. Before being appointed consul general in Dubai, he was Joint Secretary of Development Partnership and Director of East Asia at the MEA in New Delhi. 

He also served as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in Seoul, South Korea, from August 2017 to June 2020 and as the First Secretary at the Embassy of India in Washington, US.

Farewell to the Outgoing Consul General:

On the day prior, the Consulate General of India in Dubai bid farewell to Dr. Aman Puri, who had served as the Consul General of India in Dubai and the Northern Emirates since July 2020. 

The CGI commended his leadership, strengthening the bilateral relationship between the UAE and India and promoting cultural diversity and economic growth. Dr. Aman Puri was wished success in his future endeavors.
