Her journey started with a realization that may seem simple but was deeply profound: food safety isn’t just about what we eat, but how it’s packaged, transported, and traced. The Moment That Changed Everything
Nassrate’s defining moment came early on when she understood how foodborne illnesses — some of the world’s most preventable yet dangerous health threats — could be avoided through better practices. She learned how traceability systems, AI tools, and intelligent packaging could drastically reduce health risks. This wasn’t just knowledge — it was a call to action.
Determined to be part of the solution, Nassrate pursued her Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Biochemistry at Université Saint-Joseph de Beyrouth. Later, she enrolled in a Master’s program in Food Safety at the American University of Beirut (AUB), one of the region’s top academic institutions. Her studies gave her a strong foundation in microbiology, toxicology, cancerology and hazard control, and quality assurance — all essential for modern food safety systems.
Breaking Barriers at a Young Age
While studying, Nassrate didn’t wait for opportunities to knock — she created them. She took on a Quality Control Inspector role at Propack, a leading company in Packaging, labeling and printing. At the same time, she began working as a Quality & Food Safety Trainer for Bramosh Global UK, where she focused on educating small and less developed food businesses (SLDBs) in implementing food safety standards like HACCP.
One of her proudest moments was getting her nanotechnology project approved for presentation at the Arab Beverage Conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. She was the youngest participant to receive approval. The project showcased how nanotechnology can be safely integrated into juice beverage packaging, improving shelf life and safety without harming public health. It was a milestone that demonstrated not just scientific innovation but leadership in action.
Overcoming War-Time Struggles and Global Challenges
Nassrate’s path hasn’t been easy. Coming from Lebanon, a country facing political unrest and economic turmoil, she saw firsthand how conflict impacts industries — especially food. “The concerns about food safety grew significantly after the war,” she recalls. “Industries suffered, but people still needed safe food.”
Despite the chaos around her, Nassrate remained focused. She took it as a personal mission to upskill herself, completing certifications from more than eight international institutions in France, Canada, the UK, India, and Pakistan. These trainings empowered her to offer high-quality workshops and consultancy services to businesses looking to improve their food safety systems — even in difficult times.
Current Work: From Traceability to Dark Kitchens
Today, Nassrate is working on some of the most exciting and critical areas in food safety. One of her key projects focuses on Traceability Recall Management, especially for businesses dealing with increasing consumer complaints. Traceability is essential for identifying the source of food-related issues, removing contaminated products quickly, and restoring consumer trust.
She’s also paying close attention to the rise of dark kitchens and cloud restaurants — digital-only food businesses that rely heavily on delivery platforms. These models are growing rapidly, but many struggle with hygiene and safety compliance. Nassrate sees an opportunity to bring her expertise to this sector, ensuring safe food reaches customers even in fast-moving, tech-driven environments.

Looking Ahead: Global Ambitions and Lasting Impact
Nassrate isn’t stopping anytime soon. She envisions using her expertise to drive meaningful change in the food industry — particularly in regions like Dubai or Saudi Arabia, where innovation and investment in food sustainability are gaining momentum. Her goal is to contribute to smarter, safer, and more sustainable food systems that can benefit entire communities. Whether it’s through advancing eco-friendly packaging or improving quality control, Nassrate hopes her next role will allow her to create solutions that make a real difference — not just for the industry, but for people and the planet.
More than just personal success, Nassrate hopes to create long-term change. She’s particularly passionate about empowering women in the food industry, bridging the gap between research and industry, and creating more sustainable packaging solutions that reduce environmental damage.
