Dubai, UAE — October 2025
The Miss Universe UAE 2025 selection has sparked widespread controversy after it was confirmed that no official competition took place before a winner was appointed.

The coronation ceremony, originally set for September 28, 2025, was abruptly canceled due to missing permits. Contestants, who had trained for weeks, were informed at the last minute. “Everything was ready the stage, the gowns, the audience and then it was canceled,” one participant said.
Days later, Mariam Mohammad was named Miss Universe UAE 2025, despite the absence of a judging panel or transparent selection process. Industry insiders call the appointment a “shortcut” that undermines fairness, credibility, and Miss Universe’s own mission of empowerment.

The UAE franchise, has come under fire for allegedly mismanaging the event and failing to comply with national regulations. Critics also blame the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) for inadequate oversight, warning that this could erode public trust in the brand worldwide.
“The Miss Universe Organization cannot remain silent while crowns are being handed out without competition,” said a Dubai-based analyst. “This is not representation it’s reputation at stake.”
Public outcry across social media is demanding that MUO President to revoke the UAE franchise, disqualify the appointed titleholder, and appoint a new, Emirati-led national director and title holder to ensure transparency and cultural integrity.
Until then, the 2025 Miss Universe UAE crown remains, as many have called it, a crown without competition and a crown without credibility.
