Preparing for the City’s Prestigious Running Event
The Dubai Road Transport Authority (RTA) has announced significant road closures for the upcoming 23rd edition of the Dubai Marathon, scheduled to take place in Jumeirah. Participants and residents are advised to be aware of these changes to ensure smooth travel plans on the day of the event.
The Dubai Marathon 2024 will commence on Sunday, January 7, from 6 am until 1 pm. RTA has advised commuters to check the marathon route and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid delays. The 42.195km marathon route begins at Umm Suqeim Road near Madinat Jumeirah, extends along Al Sufouh, past Dubai College Junction, Palm Island, Dubai Media City, and loops back at The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi. The route continues past iconic landmarks like the Burj Al Arab and the Jumeirah Beach Hotel.
This year marks the first time since January 2020 that this area of the city will host the marathon. Besides the elite marathon runners, the event will also include a wheelchair marathon, a 10km Road Race, and a 4km Fun Run, welcoming a wide range of participants and reviving a tradition of mass participation running in this part of the city.
