Bechara’s vision extended beyond mere exhibitions; he aimed to create an incubator where artists could develop and flourish. Reflecting on the gallery’s evolution, he noted, “It started out as a cultural hub, and it then slowly turned into one of the best galleries for emerging talents to exhibit at.”

The path to establishing Kalim ArtSpace was not without challenges. Skeptics questioned the sustainability of focusing on Arab art, suggesting a pivot towards Western art. However, Bechara remained steadfast, investing millions into building a premium Arab art collection. February 1st, 2025, marked a significant milestone with the opening of a second gallery in downtown Beirut. This expansion signified a bold step forward, allowing the inclusion of both emerging and established artists from around the globe. Bechara expressed his vision, stating, “We’re bringing artists from all over the world to showcase their work in this gallery.”

Global Engagement and Future Aspirations

Bechara’s influence extends beyond Lebanon. As a Patron in the CAMMEA group at the British Museum, he fosters global artistic connections and contributes to cultural exchanges. Educational experiences at institutions like the American University of Beirut and Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London have enriched his global perspective. Looking ahead, Bechara plans to establish a presence in Dubai, recognizing it as a pivotal art hub in the region. He shared, “Within the next year, we want to open a space in Dubai; it’s the hub of art in the region and my second home.”

A core mission of Kalim ArtSpace is to support emerging Arab artists. The gallery serves as an incubator, offering exposure through art fairs and a robust social media presence.
