In 2017, Farah expanded her entrepreneurial pursuits by launching WaHekaya, a brand dedicated to creating unique headpieces that blend tradition with modernity. Recognizing a gap in the market for fashionable yet modest accessories, she aimed to empower women to express themselves confidently. Building on this success, she co-founded Nesaaonline, an online platform offering a diverse range of clothing and accessories tailored for women seeking both style and modesty. Through these ventures, Farah championed local artisans and promoted the richness of Egyptian craftsmanship.

Revolutionizing Agriculture with FreshSource

Identifying critical challenges in Egypt’s agricultural sector, particularly the significant post-harvest losses and the struggles of smallholder farmers, Farah made a bold transition from fashion to agriculture. In 2019, alongside her brother Omar, she co-founded FreshSource, an agri-tech startup aimed at overhauling the fresh produce supply chain in Egypt. FreshSource leverages technology to connect farmers directly with businesses, reducing intermediaries, minimizing food waste, and ensuring fair compensation for producers. By streamlining operations and utilizing data-driven insights, the platform has successfully increased farmers’ incomes by approximately 20% and offered businesses fresh produce at about 15% lower costs.

Overcoming Challenges and Achieving Milestones

Transitioning into the agricultural sector presented its set of challenges. Farah had to navigate a traditionally male-dominated industry and gain the trust of local farmers. Her unwavering commitment and transparent approach fostered strong relationships with producers and stakeholders alike. Under her leadership, FreshSource expanded its operations to 11 cities across Egypt, managing the entire fresh food value chain—from transportation and storage to packaging. The company now facilitates over 1,000 deliveries weekly and has transported more than 10,000 tons of produce, significantly enhancing food security in the region.

Current Endeavors and Future Aspirations

As of 2025, Farah continues to lead FreshSource with a vision to become the foremost agricultural supply chain platform in the Middle East and North Africa. She remains dedicated to empowering smallholder farmers, promoting sustainable practices, and reducing food waste. Beyond her entrepreneurial ventures, Farah actively mentors young women, encouraging them to pursue their passions and break barriers in various industries. Her journey exemplifies how determination, innovation, and a commitment to community can drive meaningful change.
