Inaugural Challenge Sir Bani Yas Triathlon Concludes with Resounding Success, Attracts Global Acclaim and Record Participation

Abu Dhabi, 7 April 2025 – The inaugural edition of the Challenge Sir Bani Yas Triathlon, held under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, concluded in spectacular fashion with exceptional success. The event garnered international praise for its flawless organization, world-class facilities, and the stunning natural and cultural landscape of Sir Bani Yas Island.

A total of 3,110 athletes from 47 countries competed across various triathlon formats, making it one of the most diverse and dynamic sports events ever hosted in the region. Over 6,615 visitors and family members joined the festivities, reflecting an overwhelmingly positive community response and a growing global interest in the UAE’s sporting landscape.

Organized by the ADNEC Group in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the Challenge Family triathlon series, the event positioned Sir Bani Yas Island—and by extension, the Al Dhafra Region—as a prominent international destination for sports tourism and community engagement.

“Challenge Sir Bani Yas is more than just a race. It is a celebration of health, wellness, and unity,” said H.E. Athletes and visitors alike praised the venue’s natural beauty, the seamless integration of sports with heritage, and the immersive experience that Sir Bani Yas Island offered. From long-distance, Olympic, and community races catering to all age groups and fitness levels, to wildlife safaris, archaeological tours, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and island biking—the event was designed to be a holistic experience for everyone.

Looking Ahead: Challenge Sir Bani Yas 2026

Building on the tremendous success of this year’s event, organizers have officially announced that the second edition of the triathlon will take place from 30 January to 1 February 2026. The announcement has already stirred excitement among returning athletes and new aspirants who aim to experience this unique blend of sport and nature.

As the first long-distance triathlon event in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, Challenge Sir Bani Yas represents a bold step toward transforming the UAE into a global sporting hub.
