A local court in the federal capital has issued a summons for the former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, Imran Khan, about an alleged ‘illegal’ Nikah case.
Based in Islamabad, the court has scheduled a hearing to probe the matter involving Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.
Legal Proceedings and Exemptions:
The District and Session Courts presided over by Judge Qudratullah, have granted a day’s exemption to Bushra Bibi from appearing in court.
However, she has been instructed to submit a surety bond of PKR 50,000 to ensure her presence at the upcoming hearing. The legal proceedings highlight the seriousness of the allegations surrounding the ‘illegal’ Nikah.
Technical Fault Delays Imran Khan’s Virtual Appearance:
Imran Khan, currently in Adiala Jail, faced a setback as a technical fault prevented his virtual appearance via Skype during the court hearing.
The judge’s order mandates relevant authorities to promptly rectify the issue and ensure the former prime minister’s video link presence at the next hearing.
Key Details Surrounding the Controversial Nikah:
The ‘illegal’ Nikah under investigation involves Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, who were married in February 2018 in Lahore.
The ceremony was reportedly attended only by close relatives and friends, excluding Imran’s sisters.
Mufti Saeed officiated the Nikah, with former PTI leader Awan Chaudhary and former SAPM Zulfi Bukhari acting as witnesses, as reported by ARY News.
