After two weeks of conflict between Israel and Palestine, the first humanitarian aid convoy has entered the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border, as shown in footage from Egyptian state TV.
Preparation for Aid Delivery:
Before the convoy’s entry, trucks carrying medicine were prepared, and border staff were in place on the Egyptian side of the crossing, according to a security source and a humanitarian worker.
Israel-Egypt Deal for Aid Entry:
An agreement between Israel and Egypt permits an initial 20 aid trucks to pass through the Rafah crossing. It is a condition that Hamas confiscate none of the relief parcels.
A statement from Hamas’ media office mentioned that the 20 trucks were meant to transport medicine, medical supplies, and a limited amount of food, including canned goods.
Foreigners May Leave Gaza:
The US Embassy in Israel earlier indicated that the Rafah crossing was expected to open at 10 am (0700 GMT), suggesting that the move would allow foreign citizens to depart from the besieged Palestinian enclave. The duration of the opening for foreign citizens is currently uncertain.
