How Ruth Bocock Turned Passion Into Global Success

Ruth Bocock

At just 15 years old, Ruth Bocock was already chasing her dreams. She wasn’t interested in textbooks or college life. Her heart was in the salon. Every Saturday, she would catch a 30 minute bus to a local salon in Southampton, even leaving school early to attend training nights. Her school didn’t approve, but that didn’t matter to Ruth. She had already found her purpose.

“I was obsessed with learning, growing, and being in the salon,” she recalls. “From day one, I knew this was where I belonged.”

That early fire never faded. Today, Ruth is not only a renowned hair artist but also a passionate educator and a proud member of the Schwarzkopf Art Team. Her Instagram handle @rainbowsby_ruth is a colorful showcase of her vibrant creativity, bold colour work, and love for uplifting others.

Finding Purpose Through Hair and Human Connection

Ruth grew up watching her mum work magic as a hairdresser. But it wasn’t just about curls and cuts. It was the way her mum made people feel seen, heard, and beautiful. That emotional impact left a lasting impression.

“I fell in love with how a simple change in hair could shift how someone felt about themselves,” Ruth says. “That emotional connection still drives me today.”

Her work has always gone beyond the chair. For Ruth, it’s about creating confidence and connection, helping women feel their best inside and out. She calls hairdressing her calling, a career that allows her to mix artistry, authenticity, and heart.

A Year of Dreams: Winning Big in 2024

After years of dedication, Ruth reached two major career milestones in 2024 and both were dreams she had nurtured for over three years.

First, she was named Colour Technician of the Year after being a finalist three times before. “Finally winning felt like a deeply personal victory,” she shares. “It was overwhelming and emotional. I had worked so hard for that moment.”

Then came another breakthrough. She was chosen as one of only 33 crafters from 16 different countries to represent the UAE a country she had called home for over 10 years.

“These were not just career highlights,” she says. “They were dream come true moments that proved passion and persistence really pay off.”

From Artist to Educator: Giving Back to the Industry

While Ruth continues to grow as an artist, she is also focused on giving back. She is currently taking a trichology course to deepen her knowledge of hair and scalp health. At the same time, she is developing education programs to train and uplift upcoming stylists.

“I want to share what I have learned, not gatekeep,” Ruth explains. “My long term goal is to speak on stages around the world and help the next generation of artists dream big and believe in their craft.”

Her mission is clear — to empower, inspire, and educate, just as others once did for her.

Lessons Learned: Stay True, Stay Obsessed, Stay Brave

Through years of hustle, Ruth has learned some powerful lessons. The kind that come from real life experience.

“The most valuable lesson I have learned is that staying true to yourself is your greatest strength,” she says. “You do not need to be what people expect. Be the person your younger self would look up to.”

Ruth encourages artists to be their own biggest cheerleader, to keep showing up, and to protect their passion fiercely. “Trends will change. Opinions will come and go. But authenticity and consistency build real impact.”

She knows firsthand that the journey is not always smooth. Not everyone will support your growth. But she reminds others not to shrink themselves to fit in or dim their light to make others comfortable.

A Vision That Goes Beyond Hair

What Ruth wants to leave behind is not just a portfolio of beautiful work. It is a legacy.

“I want to be remembered as someone who gave her whole heart to the industry,” she says. “Someone who inspired others to take up space, trust themselves, and chase big dreams.”

Through her platform, her teaching, and her connection with clients, Ruth is creating something lasting. Rooted in love, creativity, and courage.

Even if she only helps one person feel seen and capable of more, she will consider that a success.

Final Words: Dream Big, Stay Delusional

To her younger self and to every dreamer out there Ruth offers these powerful words:

“You do not need to have it all figured out to do something great. Stay obsessed with learning. Keep showing up. Trust your gut, even when it is scary. Stay delusional and dream even bigger.”

Ruth Bocock’s journey proves that passion, persistence, and staying true to who you are can take you far. From Saturday girl to global educator, she is a shining example of how a dream, no matter how small it starts, can transform into a movement that touches lives around the world.
