Ghada Dwaik is a creator in every sense of the word. An architect by training, a visual artist by heart, and a certified yoga instructor by choice, she’s carved out a life where creativity, well-being, and cultural storytelling exist side by side. Whether she’s transforming vintage objects into modern lighting pieces, practicing yoga, or reimagining neglected spaces with bold artistic vision, her path proves that embracing multiple passions is not chaos — it’s a lifestyle of intention.
Rooted in Design, Driven by Passion
A graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Helwan University, Ghada began her career in architecture and product design. She held roles ranging from architectural designer to product and landscape designer. One of her most notable corporate roles was at GEMMA, a leading luxury tile manufacturer, where she worked as a product designer for three years.
Yet even at the height of corporate success, she felt an inner pull toward something more personal.

“I always knew I was meant to do something that aligned more with my soul. That feeling stayed with me until I could no longer ignore it.”
A Bold Departure to Rediscover Self
Five years ago, Ghada made a life-changing decision: she left her job without a set plan, determined to reconnect with what brought her joy. She wandered the historic alleys of Old Cairo — its layered architecture, textured walls, and forgotten corners sparked something deep within her.
That journey led to the founding of GD Designs, her first independent venture. Here, she began reworking vintage finds into unique lighting art. It started as a hobby but quickly became a recognized design brand with emotional depth and cultural relevance.
Art That Resonates
Ghada’s work blends architectural clarity with artistic emotion. Her lighting installations and furniture pieces often incorporate reclaimed elements — but her focus isn’t just on sustainability. It’s on storytelling.
“What draws people to the pieces isn’t just their look — it’s the feeling. Some pieces spark memories, others start conversations. That connection is everything.”
The Sisterhood of Creativity
Not long after launching GD Designs, Ghada co-founded Dwaik’s Design House with her sister. The studio specializes in custom furniture, lighting, and interior pieces, while also offering a space for other emerging designers to collaborate and share their work.
“We push each other creatively. There’s no ego—just a shared vision and support.”
Yoga: The Inner Architecture
Beyond design, yoga has become a major pillar of Ghada’s personal and creative life. She didn’t just practice—it led her to become a certified teacher, allowing her to guide others toward inner peace.
“Yoga clears the noise. It helps me show up to my art with more honesty and less fear.”
Her practice influences not only her mood and mindset, but also her creative rhythm. When she hits a creative block, she doesn’t resist—it becomes part of the process.
The Intersection of Mind, Movement & Matter
To Ghada, art, yoga, and architecture are not separate worlds.
“They’re different languages with the same purpose: to express, connect, and transform.”
Whether it’s a balanced yoga flow, a reimagined lamp, or a building restoration — her work revolves around storytelling, harmony, and healing.
From Public Art to Public Impac
One of Ghada’s proudest moments was participating in the eniGma Covers Reimagined exhibition, where she recreated iconic magazine covers featuring Mohamed Hadid, Amr Youssef, and Mohamed Hefzy. It was more than just exposure — it affirmed her place as a visual artist.
Her next dream? Launching Egypt’s first-ever permanent Lighting Festival — a bold fusion of architecture, light, public art, and community engagement. Another project close to her heart involves revitalizing neglected neighborhoods through art-driven restorations in places like Mansheyat Nasser.
“I want to preserve the soul of these spaces while giving them a new breath of life.”
Her Vision, Simplified
- Architect — designing spaces with aesthetic function and cultural memory
- Artist — creating pieces that provoke thought and feeling
- Yoga teacher — guiding others toward balance and creativity
- Cultural advocate — preserving Egypt’s heritage through artistic intervention
Advice for Aspiring Creatives
Ghada believes that a fulfilling life often requires bold steps and inner listening.
“Follow your heart, even when the path is unclear. The process will teach you what the destination never could.”
