Before the war changed everything, Natalia Savchuk was thriving in the high end real estate market of Ukraine. She wasn’t just selling luxury homes, she was deeply in love with the art of architecture and the process of matching people to their dream properties. “I’d fall in love with these homes and help others fall in love too,” she shares.
But her dream career took a dramatic turn when Russia invaded Ukraine. In a flash, the real estate market, especially the luxury segment, collapsed. Investors backed away, scared by the uncertainty and danger that came with missile strikes and unstable living conditions. Natalia held on as long as she could, trying to stay in Ukraine and continue working.
Everything changed the day a missile struck a major business center near her home. That explosion made her realize that staying wasn’t just difficult anymore. It was dangerous. And so began a journey that would take her from survival to stardom.
Beauty Queen to International Model: How It All Began
Natalia’s modeling story actually started long before she left Ukraine. While still a university student, she entered a beauty pageant called Krasivo and won first place. That win led her to sign with a modeling agency and land her first contract in China. It wasn’t easy. Natalia barely spoke English at the time, and adapting to a completely different culture came with its own set of challenges.
But even with language barriers and cultural shocks, she stayed strong. “The work brought me joy, and that joy helped me push through the difficulties,” she says.
What was supposed to be a temporary pursuit slowly became a career. Modeling wasn’t just a side hobby anymore. It became her passion and purpose.
Rising Through the Ranks: Paris, Milan, and Beyond
After fleeing Ukraine, Natalia moved to France, specifically Paris, the heart of fashion. There, she decided to give modeling her full attention. And Paris responded. She walked in major fashion events like Paris Fashion Week and attended the Cannes Film Festival. Soon, she was also seen at Milan Fashion Week, growing her portfolio and reputation across Europe.
That success caught the attention of international designers. One invitation led her to Los Angeles Fashion Week, where her first runway appearance triggered a flood of offers. A few weeks later, she was in New York, working on even more projects.
“I was amazed at how different fashion feels in every country,” she says. “Each place has its own soul, its own energy.”
Now, she’s back in Paris, still working, still dreaming, and more focused than ever.
More Than Just a Pretty Face: Her Vision and Values
Natalia sees modeling as more than a career. It’s a form of artistic expression. What fuels her isn’t just walking the runway or posing for shoots. It’s the chance to represent visionary designers, sustainable brands, and powerful new ideas.
“I want to collaborate with ethical fashion labels,” she shares. “This industry has so much power to influence people. Why not use that to support something meaningful?”
She’s also passionate about breaking the outdated standards in the modeling world. “It’s not about being the thinnest or the tallest,” she explains. “It’s about the energy you bring. Your presence. That’s what truly matters.”
Fighting Standards, Embracing Uniqueness
Natalia is vocal about her belief that every person and every brand needs a different type of beauty. “There’s no such thing as perfect. Each person is beautiful in their own unique way. That’s what makes fashion real and relatable,” she says.
She believes the industry should drop rigid measurements and open up to authenticity. “It’s the feeling you give that counts. The soul behind the smile.”
Staying Grounded While Aiming High
Despite the glamor and success, Natalia remains grounded. She doesn’t sugarcoat the challenges of building a modeling career. “You shouldn’t expect to make a lot of money in the beginning. Treat it like a passion project, not a paycheck. Focus on growth, and the money will follow.”
That mindset helped her survive the early days, and it continues to guide her today.
Next Steps: Big Dreams in the City of Light
Currently, Natalia is preparing for her next big project in Paris. She’s setting her sights on eco conscious fashion shows and hopes to partner with brands that reflect her values. She’s also working on improving her English and learning French.
But her ambitions don’t stop at modeling. Natalia dreams of launching her own brand one day and starting an investment company. Her vision is to blend creativity with business and inspire others in the process.
