flydubai Expands Southeast Asia Network: Introducing Flights to Penang and Langkawi

Flydubai Expands Services with New Destinations in Saudi Arabia

On February 10th, flydubai proudly launched its operations to Langkawi and Penang, marking a significant expansion of its network in Southeast Asia. The inaugural flights, coinciding with the auspicious first day of Chinese New Year, received a warm welcome at Penang International Airport (PEN) and Langkawi International Airport (LGK), with water cannon salutes and local authorities extending their hospitality. This milestone makes flydubai the first carrier to offer daily services from Dubai to these two Malaysian destinations.

With these new routes, flydubai’s presence in Southeast Asia now spans four destinations across two countries, including Krabi and Pattaya in Thailand. Sudhir Sreedharan, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations (UAE, GCC, Africa, and the Indian Subcontinent) at flydubai, expressed delight at the expansion, affirming the airline’s commitment to connecting underserved markets. He noted that the daily services to Penang and Langkawi will provide passengers with enhanced opportunities to explore the diverse and beautiful region.

The timing of the inaugural flight on the first day of Chinese New Year presents a unique opportunity for travelers to immerse themselves in the multicultural festivities and vibrant events in Penang. YB Wong Hon Wai, Penang State EXCO for Tourism and Creative Economy, expressed excitement about flydubai’s introduction of these new routes, emphasizing the significance of this development in enhancing Penang’s appeal as a regional destination.

Penang and Langkawi offer visitors from the UAE and beyond a rich tapestry of heritage, adventure, and relaxation. Penang, with its UNESCO-listed George Town and vibrant street art scene, blends cultural richness with modern charm. Meanwhile, Langkawi’s pristine beaches and lush landscapes provide an idyllic setting for beach holidays.

flydubai is operating its latest aircraft on these routes, featuring lie-flat seats, internationally-inspired menus, and immersive entertainment options in Business Class, while Economy Class offers seats designed for comfort and space optimization.

Flights to Langkawi will include a short stop in Penang, providing passengers with convenient travel options to explore both destinations. Commencing from February 10, 2024, flights will operate daily from Terminal 3, Dubai International (DXB) to Penang International Airport (PEN) and Langkawi International Airport (LGK).

Return fares from DXB to PEN start from AED 2,700 in Economy Class Lite and AED 11,000 in Business Class. Similarly, return fares from DXB to LGK start from AED 3,500 in Economy Class Lite and AED 11,000 in Business Class.
