Flydubai, the renowned Dubai-based carrier, has announced its expansion plans with the introduction of flights to two destinations in Saudi Arabia. The airline will resume flights to Al Jouf and commence operations to Red Sea International Airport, offering increased connectivity and convenience for travelers.
Scheduled to commence from April 18, Flydubai’s flights to Al Jouf Airport (AJF) and Red Sea International Airport (RSI) will operate twice a week from Terminal 2 at Dubai International (DXB).
Hamad Obaidalla, Chief Commercial Officer at Flydubai, expressed the airline’s commitment to supporting economic and tourism development in the GCC region. He stated, “We are pleased to further expand our network with the launch of flights to Al Jouf and Red Sea International. These direct flights will strengthen the existing strong ties and cater to the growing demand for travel between Dubai and Saudi Arabia.”
Flydubai boasts an extensive network of 129 destinations across 58 countries and operates a modern fleet of 86 Boeing 737 aircraft. Since the beginning of 2024, the airline has initiated operations to various destinations and plans to introduce flights to additional cities later this year.
Sudhir Sreedharan, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations (UAE, GCC, Subcontinent, and Africa) at Flydubai, emphasized the significance of the expansion. He stated, “Flydubai is proud to become the first carrier to operate to Red Sea International from the UAE. This underscores our commitment to opening up underserved markets and further connecting regions via Dubai’s aviation hub.”
Red Sea International Airport (RSI) aims to provide convenient access to Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea resorts. Currently, two luxury resorts, Six Senses Southern Dunes and St. Regis Red Sea Resort, are operational at the destination, with plans for additional resorts and amenities in the coming years.
