The festival’s theme, “A Living Expression of Abu Dhabi’s Culture,” invites visitors to engage deeply with the emirate’s heritage. Attendees can explore artisan handicrafts, savor traditional Emirati cuisine, and enjoy live performances by local musicians and storytellers. The event also features immersive heritage activities, educational workshops, and art exhibits, ensuring a rich experience for all ages.

Highlights of the Festival

  • Makers Space: This interactive area, themed “Al Badiya Living,” delves into the desert and oasis environments that have shaped Emirati life. Through workshops and design showcases, guests can learn skills such as shelter building, fire starting, and understanding the medicinal use of native plants.
  • Sanad Al Sanaa: A theatrical play centered around a young boy named Sanad, highlighting values like hospitality, solidarity, and cooperation. The narrative emphasizes the importance of family and community bonds in Emirati culture.
  • Gahwa Championships: Celebrating the art of traditional Arabic coffee preparation, this competition honors participants who excel in this cherished Emirati practice.
  • Al Teeb by House of Artisans: A curated experience that delves into traditional Emirati perfumery, offering insights into historical methods and cultural significance. Visitors can witness live demonstrations and participate in interactive sessions.
  • Main Show – Al Tcholeeb: In collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Police Cavalry, this performance combines shadow-play projections, grand poetry recitals, and the traditional art form of Al Tcholeeb. Knights on horseback chant poetry in rhythm with their horses’ hooves, bringing ancient stories to life.

Family-Friendly Activities

The festival offers a plethora of activities suitable for all ages. Children can engage in workshops, interactive exhibitions, and art projects, ensuring they connect with Emirati culture in meaningful ways. Families can explore traditional crafts in “Al Freej,” enjoy camel rides and falconry displays in “The Fort Zone,” and participate in heritage adventures designed specifically for younger attendees.

Tickets and Timings

The Al Hosn Festival runs daily from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with the last entry at 10:30 PM. Tickets are priced at AED 35 for adults aged 13-59 and AED 15 for children aged 5-12. Entry is free for children under 5, seniors aged 60 and above, and People of Determination. Tickets can be purchased through the official festival website.
