Strategic Partnership for Commuter Convenience

Etihad Rail has finalized an agreement to initiate a passenger service from Abu Dhabi to the Al Dhannah region, located approximately 250 kilometers west of the capital. 

This partnership involves collaboration between the railway operator and Adnoc, facilitating travel for Adnoc employees between Abu Dhabi and Al Dhannah via train, as reported by the state news agency Wam.

Rail Network’s Role in National Vision

Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed, Chairman of the Office of Development and Martyrs’ Families Affairs at the Presidential Court and chairman of Etihad Rail, emphasized the pivotal role of the UAE’s railway network in fulfilling the country’s strategic goals across various sectors. 

The integration of a comprehensive rail network stands as a fundamental element of infrastructure development, aligning with global standards and contributing significantly to the UAE’s sustainable growth, according to Sheikh Theyab.

Vision for Sustainable Development

While a specific commencement date for the UAE’s passenger rail service has not been confirmed, it was previously announced that the inaugural passenger station will be Sakamkam in Fujairah. 

This strategic step underscores the country’s commitment to advancing sustainable transportation and enhancing connectivity between key regions.

Etihad Rail’s initiative signifies a milestone in the UAE’s transportation sector, offering a more sustainable and efficient mode of travel for commuters, thereby contributing to the nation’s vision for comprehensive and interconnected transportation infrastructure.
