Emirates Red Crescent Launches Dh38 Million Ramadan Campaign to Support Needy Families

The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has initiated a generous Dh37.6 million Ramadan campaign to extend assistance to underprivileged families both locally in the UAE and across the globe.

The “Ramadan Continuous Giving Campaign,” inaugurated on Sunday, aims to provide essential aid to millions of individuals, including Eid clothing, Ramadan food parcels, and Iftar meals. Spanning across 44 countries in Asia, Europe, and South America, the campaign targets to support a staggering 1.8 million people.

As the anticipated first day of Ramadan approaches on March 11, the ERC gears up to roll out women-only Ramadan and Iftar tents, a novel addition to their initiatives. These tents will be strategically placed in multiple locations across Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Ajman.

To facilitate donations, the campaign has established 321 collection sites spanning all emirates, strategically located in malls, bustling markets, and densely populated areas. Citizens and residents can contribute through various channels, including the ERC’s donation centers, website, apps, bank deposits, text messages, cash donation boxes, and in-person collection points.

Rashid Mubarak Al Mansouri, Secretary-General of the ERC, emphasized that the campaign’s core objective is to extend support and assistance to vulnerable populations worldwide. Furthermore, it aims to alleviate suffering, enhance livelihoods, and uphold human dignity, while also combating poverty, hunger, and diseases.

In an effort to expand its humanitarian outreach, the ERC has intensified its Ramadan programs in regions requiring urgent assistance, such as the Gaza Strip. Notably, the ERC endeavors to provide 10,000 Iftar meals to Palestinians in Gaza during the holy month.

Meanwhile, the iconic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi has completed meticulous preparations to accommodate thousands of worshippers and visitors throughout Ramadan. The mosque has introduced over 70 electric cars to shuttle worshippers from parking areas to prayer halls, with priority given to the elderly and disabled. Additionally, it plans to distribute around 50,000 breakfast meals for workers. Ensuring the safety of worshippers, the mosque has sterilized its carpets and courtyard and provided over 1,480 carpets for worshippers’ use.

As Ramadan approaches, observed by over 1.8 billion Muslims worldwide, the ERC’s commendable efforts underscore the spirit of compassion and generosity inherent in this sacred month.
