Abu Dhabi families and tourists have a new reason to plan a wildlife-filled weekend. Emirates Park Zoo and Resort has launched a free weekend shuttle service from Al Wahda Mall, creating a smoother and more convenient journey for visitors.
The initiative strengthens Abu Dhabi’s growing focus on accessible, community-driven attractions that combine entertainment, education, and comfort. By bridging one of the capital’s busiest retail hubs with a leading wildlife destination, the shuttle service enhances the overall leisure experience for residents and tourists alike.
Designed for Families and Weekend Explorers
Weekends in Abu Dhabi are often centered around family time, shopping trips, and leisure outings. Recognizing this pattern, Emirates Park Zoo and Resort has carefully scheduled the shuttle to align with peak visiting hours, ensuring flexibility and ease.
The service operates every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. On Fridays, departures from Al Wahda Mall are scheduled at 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM. Return trips from the zoo leave at 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM. On Saturdays and Sundays, the shuttle departs from the mall at 1:00 PM and 4:30 PM, with return services at 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
Pick-up and drop-off points at both locations are clearly marked, ensuring a seamless and stress-free boarding process for families with children, elderly visitors, and tourists unfamiliar with the city.
A Partnership Focused on Visitor Comfort
The free shuttle is part of a year-long collaboration between Emirates Park Zoo and Al Wahda Mall. The agreement reflects a shared commitment to improving guest convenience while promoting nature-based outings within the city.
Saeed Alamin, Director of Zoo Operations at Emirates Park Zoo, described the initiative as a meaningful step toward enhancing visitor experience. According to him, the partnership is not simply about transportation but about connecting urban lifestyles with the wonders of wildlife in a way that feels effortless and enjoyable.
From the mall’s perspective, the collaboration extends the customer journey beyond retail. After a day of shopping or dining, families can board a comfortable shuttle and continue their outing at the zoo without the need to arrange additional transport or parking.
Mayank M. Pal, General Manager at Al Wahda Mall, highlighted that the initiative reinforces both entities’ shared commitment to guest-centric experiences. The shuttle offers a direct and comfortable ride, encouraging families to explore more of what Abu Dhabi has to offer in a single, well-planned day.
Sooraj KP, Deputy General Manager of Al Wahda Mall, added that the service is also expected to increase weekend footfall while enhancing brand visibility for both partners.
Strengthening Abu Dhabi’s Leisure Landscape
Abu Dhabi continues to invest in attractions that cater to diverse audiences, blending education, recreation, and sustainability. Emirates Park Zoo has long been recognized as a family-friendly destination where visitors can interact with animals, learn about conservation, and enjoy immersive experiences.
By introducing a free shuttle service, the zoo is removing a common barrier to leisure travel: transportation logistics. For many families, particularly those relying on shared mobility or public transport, the convenience of a direct shuttle makes spontaneous outings far more feasible.
This move also reflects a broader trend toward eco-conscious travel solutions. Encouraging group transport reduces the number of individual vehicles on the road, helping minimize traffic congestion and environmental impact during peak weekend hours.

Encouraging More Frequent Visits
Accessibility plays a key role in building lasting relationships with visitors. When travel becomes easier, outings become more frequent. The shuttle service is expected to encourage repeat visits, especially among residents who may have previously postponed trips due to traffic or parking concerns.
For tourists staying in central Abu Dhabi, Al Wahda Mall serves as a recognizable landmark and gathering point. The direct shuttle eliminates the uncertainty of navigating unfamiliar routes, offering a reliable and comfortable alternative.
Beyond convenience, the initiative also enhances the overall weekend experience. Families can plan a full day of activities—shopping, dining, and wildlife exploration—without the need to move their cars or coordinate multiple rides.
More Than Just Transport
The Memorandum of Understanding signed between Emirates Park Zoo and Al Wahda Mall outlines plans for additional joint initiatives throughout the year. These may include coordinated promotional campaigns, bundled experiences, and engagement-driven events designed to create greater value for visitors.
Such collaborations demonstrate how retail and recreational spaces can complement one another. Instead of operating as separate destinations, they form part of an interconnected lifestyle ecosystem that prioritizes visitor comfort and enjoyment.
A Human-Centered Approach to Leisure
At its heart, the free weekend shuttle service is about people. It acknowledges the practical challenges families face—time constraints, transport planning, and rising travel costs—and responds with a thoughtful solution.
By offering a complimentary and scheduled ride, Emirates Park Zoo and Al Wahda Mall are sending a clear message: memorable experiences should be easy to access. Whether it’s a child excited to see wildlife up close or tourists seeking a relaxed day outdoors, the journey now begins with convenience.
As Abu Dhabi continues to grow as a dynamic cultural and tourism hub, initiatives like this reflect a city that listens to its residents and visitors. The free shuttle is more than a logistical upgrade; it is a step toward building stronger community connections through shared experiences.
With clearly defined schedules, strategic partnership planning, and a commitment to guest satisfaction, the new shuttle service positions Emirates Park Zoo as not just a destination, but an accessible and welcoming part of the city’s weekend rhythm.
