Emirates Cancels and Delays Flights Amid Aviation Staff Strike in Germany

Dubai’s Emirates airline has announced disruptions to its flights to and from Germany due to industrial action by aviation staff scheduled for Thursday. The strike, called by the German trade union Verdi, is aimed at improving financial benefits for its members, including wage increases, higher performance-based bonuses, and better terms for overtime.

The affected flights include EK060 from Hamburg to Dubai, which has been cancelled, and EK062 from Hamburg to Dubai, which has been delayed and rescheduled to depart from Hamburg at 1730 local time on March 15.

“We’re sorry for the inconvenience this may cause. Affected customers who have booked with travel agents should contact them for alternative travel arrangements. Customers who have booked directly with Emirates may contact their local office for rebooking options,” Emirates stated on its website.

The strike is expected to impact operations at five German airports on Thursday, March 14, prompting Emirates to adjust its flight schedules accordingly. The airline advises passengers to stay updated on any changes and to reach out to their respective booking channels for assistance with alternative travel arrangements.
