Emirates and AC Milan Unveil Stunning Art Installation at 2024 Dubai World Cup

At the prestigious 2024 Dubai World Cup held at Meydan Racecourse on March 30, Emirates and AC Milan made a grand statement by revealing a bespoke art installation crafted by renowned regional artist Kareemgraphy. The installation, a unique fusion of sports, culture, and art, captivated spectators with its innovative design and symbolism.

Created by calligraffiti artist Abdul Kareem, known as Kareemgraphy, the striking art piece portrays a horse made entirely from 187 AC Milan jerseys, including the Home, Away, Third, and goalkeeper kits. Spanning 8 x 8 meters, the installation graced the lawn area adjacent to the parade ring, offering spectators a breathtaking visual experience that seamlessly integrated sports and art.

The Dubai World Cup, conceived by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, represents the pinnacle of the horse racing season in the UAE. AC Milan’s participation marked a significant milestone as the Club’s inaugural activation at Emirates horse racing events, solidifying its longstanding partnership with Emirates since 2007.

Among the distinguished guests at the event were AC Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani, RedBird Capital’s Operating Partner and AC Milan Senior Advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and AC Milan’s Chief Commercial Officer Maikel Oettle. Speaking about the art installation, AC Milan’s Chief Commercial Officer Maikel Oettle expressed admiration for its innovative representation of the intersection between sports and diverse cultures, highlighting the Club’s forward-thinking approach beyond football.

Boutros Boutros, Emirates Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications, Marketing, and Brand, lauded the convergence of the 17-year partnership between Emirates and AC Milan and the 28-year collaboration with the Dubai World Cup. He emphasized the significance of the art installation as another remarkable moment for customers to enjoy at a world-class event, showcasing exceptional brand partnerships and an appreciation for sport, culture, and art.

The event marked a significant milestone in AC Milan’s collaboration with Emirates, reinforcing the strong bond between the two brands and underscoring the Club’s commitment to engaging with diverse audiences through innovative initiatives. With over 35 million fans globally and 2.5 million in the UAE, AC Milan has solidified its presence in the Middle East, further demonstrated by the opening of Casa Milan Dubai, its regional hub, at the end of last year. This strategic move aligns with the Club’s global expansion under RedBird Capital, emphasizing its dedication to the Middle East’s burgeoning market.
